On generalized list colourings of graphs

چکیده
Vizing [15] and Erdös et al. [8] independently introduce the idea of considering list-colouring and k-choosability. In the both papers the choosability version of Brooks’ theorem [4] was proved but the choosability version of Gallai’s theorem [9] was proved independently by Thomassen [14] and by Kostochka et al. [11]. In [3] some extensions of these two basic theorems to (P, k)-choosability have been proved. In this paper we prove some extensions of the well-known bounds for the P-chromatic number to the (P, k)-choice number and then an extension of Brooks’ theorem.

Algorithmic aspects of graph homomorphisms
Homomorphisms are a useful model for a wide variety of combinatorial problems dealing with mappings and assignments, typified by scheduling and channel assignment problems. Homomorphism problems generalize graph colourings, and are in turn generalized by constraint satisfaction problems; they represent a robust intermediate class of problems – with greater modeling power than graph colourings, ...
متن کاملBalanced list edge-colourings of bipartite graphs
Galvin solved the Dinitz conjecture by proving that bipartite graphs are ∆edge-choosable. We improve Galvin’s method and deduce from any colouring of the edges of bipartite graph G some further list edge-colouring properties of G. In particular, for bipartite graphs, it follows from the existence of balanced bipartite edge-colourings that balanced list edge-colourings exist as well. While the k...
متن کاملGeneralized Colourings (Matrix Partitions) of Cographs
Ordinary colourings of cographs are well understood; we focus on more general colourings, known as matrix partitions. We show that all matrix partition problems for cographs admit polynomial time algorithms and forbidden induced subgraph characterizations, even for the list version of the problems. Cographs are the largest natural class of graphs that have been shown to have this property. We b...
متن کاملChannel Assignment and Improper Choosability of Graphs
We model a problem proposed by Alcatel, a satellite building company, using improper colourings of graphs. The relation between improper colourings and maximum average degree is underlined, which contributes to generalise and improve previous known results about improper colourings of planar graphs.
متن کاملRECONFIGURING k-COLOURINGS OF COMPLETE BIPARTITE GRAPHS
Let H be a graph, and k ≥ χ(H) an integer. We say that H has a Gray code of k-colourings if and only if it is possible to list all its k-colourings in such a way that consecutive colourings (including the last and the first) agree on all vertices of H except one. The Gray code number of H is the least integer k0(H) such that H has a Gray code of its k-colourings for all k ≥ k0(H). For complete ...
